FEED MANAGEMENT IN THE POULTRY FARM

 OBJECTIVE

T avoid the feed wastage by proper feed storage and handling .To maintain the required inventory level.

The required equipment are as follows :

*Pallet

*300 kg  platform scale 

*Feed bucket &jug 

FACILITIES IN THE FEED ROOM 

*The room to be equipped with following parameters 

*Damp proof 

*Well ventilated 

FEED INDENT & RECEIPT OF FEED

1-Based on the requirement the feed to be prepared and forward the same to manage for approval.

2-The indent to be prepared by the farm manager to approve and the forward to be the feed mill after raising the indent in ERP to  Feed mill by the manager.

3-Feed coordinator and the MIS  are the responsible  persons to monitor .

4-While preparing the indent ,the following to be considered .

*age 

*Type of feed 

*Addition of medicine like with /without ACP.AGP  and AMP.

*Quantity 

*Date  of requirement 

*If any special chemical 

5-The indent to be reached 25th of every moth for the next month requisition and based on the monthly  requirement dispatch will be  made on weekly basis.

UNLOADING OF FEED BAGS 

1-Check the feed vehicle packing condition to ensure the bags free from wetness and any damage .

2-While unloading the bags executives should be present for the counting  and should mark serially number & date .

3-Unload the feed bags on the pallet/Stand  with 5-7 bags height

4-The gap to be maintained between walls and pallet at least 1.5 feet.

5-During unloading check  the condition  of the bags .If any damaged bags immediately transfer that feed in another bag.

6-ON completion of  unloading ,prepare the in pass and GRN with the details .No.of  received bags.Type of  feed ,vehicle no,in & out time and the same to be signed by the farm in charge , Driver and security.

7-Slip with the medicine  details  and manufacturing  date to be stored  for  further  verification .

CONTROL/QUALITY PARAMETER

If old fed is available ,stack the feed in  separate  area of the pallet to consume the feed first.

*Ensure the FIFO 

*Do not use the  hook to unload the bags .

*Control the unload bags and verify with DC for ensure the physical  and DC quantity .

*The receive the quantity to be upload in the  feed stock register .

STORAGE & MAINTENANCE OF FEED IN FEED ROOM

STORAGE

1-Feed room  should have good ventilation .

2-Feed bags  to be stock  on wooden  or iron pallet /stand .

3-Feed  room should  be free rodents,damps and wild birds entry .

4-Unnecessary movement  of the personal  is to be  avoid .

5-Maintain 3 to 7 days stock.

MAINTENANCE

1-Clean the feed room with broomstick .

2-Follow the rat control programme  in the feed room  by  placing the traps and  bites .

3-Spray the  recommended disinfection weekly once.

4-Monitor the hygienic  condition  of the room by analyzing   through lab test.

control/Quality parameter 

*Sugi clean DW 204/206 GOLD -10 ml /lit of water.

*Check the hygienic level monthly  once .

Reasons of  feed wastage :

*Keep the weight feed in damaged bags.

*Over filling of  feed  in bucket  during feeling .

*Over filling of  feed in  feeders .

*Due to rodents .

*Using hooks..

1-Keep the feed room clean and hygienic .

2-Spray the recommended disinfection properly.

3-First  in out (FIFO) system to be adhered to.

4-Storage of empty feed bags neatly  and  feed bags number  to be maintained in the separate record.

5-Check the feed odour,moisture ,lump,powder percentage,size of the partcle before weighing .
